The primary research focus in Bioengineering at CMC
is in Physiological Measurements & Instrumentation,
Biophysics & Electrophysiology, Sensorimotor Control
& Learning, and Rehabilitation Engineering. The
Bioengineering department works closely with several
other departments in CMC Vellore. A major part of our
past and current activities has been in physiological
measurements, prostheses and assistive devices,
electrodiagnostics, FES, and and neuorehabilitation
technology.
Biological Learning & Rehabilitation Group
The BioRehab group is interested in developing & validating neurorehabilitation tools and methods for the optimal assessment and training of sensorimotor function following neurological conditions. We carry out both engineering and basic science research activities in pursuit of this goal. On the engineering side, we develop technology-based therapy tools, which includes robotic devices, sensor-based systems and electrical stimulation systems. Our basic science research is focused mainly on experimental and computational work in human motor control and learning.
